Geography

Completely surrounding the Town of Tisdale, the Rural Municipality (RM) of Tisdale is located in one of the busiest regions of North-Central Saskatchewan. Provincial Highways # 3 and #36 essentially divide the RM into quarters, bringing in visitors travelling to Eastern, Western, Northern, and Southern Saskatchewan. Farmland cut into Parkland-Boreal wilderness covers the regions terrain, while the Doghide River drains the northern portion of the district. The municipality consists of Townships 43, 44 and 45 in Ranges 13, 14 and 15, all West of the Second Meridian and has an area of 322 square miles.

History
The area now known as the Rural Municipality of Tisdale was organized in 1904 into Local Improvement District (LID) 21-M-2 and incorporated as the RM of Eldersley in 1912. The name was changed to its current form in 1920.

Economic Information
The main industry of the area is agriculture, including cereal crops, canola, flax, beekeeping, alfalfa and livestock. The assessment of the nine-township municipality is $70 million (2001). The population of 1,137 (2001) includes the organized hamlets of Eldersley (located SE 9 & SW 10-45-13-2) and Sylvania (located NW 8-43-14-2). The municipal office, shared with the RM of Connaught No. 457 is located in the town of Tisdale. A reeve, six councillors and an administrator govern the RM.

Attractions
Located near the RM, is the Jones Wildlife Sanctuary. The Sanctuary offers hiking trails for visitors to use and explore as they take in the wetland habitat present there. The Tisdale Wildlife Federation, and Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation, helped establish and currently help maintain the sanctuary.
