| Geography | The Town of Wilkie is located 160 km west of Saskatoon on Highway #14 and 60 km southeast of North Battleford on Highway #29. Wilkie is home to the largest grasshopper which is located along the service road next to highway #29.
| | History | Settlers began arriving in Wilkie in the fall of 1905. Wilkie was incorporated as a town in 1911 and was named after Daniel Robert Wilkie, who was the president of the Imperial Bank. With the needs of the homesteaders to be met and the rumbling of the approaching railroad, the village that would be nicknamed 'the town that won't wait,' jumped to life.
| | Economic Information | The Town of Wilkie has a population of approximatley 1292 people. The community continues daily with its industries and services , such as agriculture, value added agriculture, tourism, recreation , and Education and Health to mention a few.
| | Attractions | Wilkie is home to our town mascot Hoppy, the largest grasshopper around! Hoppy is seen regularly at community events and local parades.
Wilkie offers a variety of activities targetted to all ages. Facilities and attractions include the Wilkie Museum, a six-building facility bringing the community heritage to life. The community boasts a regional park with ball diamonds and camping facilities; Memorial Park; an outdoor swimming pool; nine-hole golf course; and the local community hall, arena and curling rink.
Community events include: Farmers' Days in March; Spring Sale & Trade Show in April, soccer & baseball tournaments during spring/summer; Polka Fest in July; Business Appreciation Night in October, the Hobby/Craft Show in November; and a Carol Festival in December. As well curling bonspeils run throughout December to February and our minor hockey association and figure skating clubs keep families busy all winter.
Wilkie has serveral clubs including: dance clubs, karate, and kickboxing. There is also a variety of service clubs the lend a helping hand in our community
