| Geography | Borden is located 50 kilometres (kms) northwest of Saskatoon on Highway #16, the twinned Yellowhead. The historical and the new Borden Bridges, which cross the North Saskatchewan River, are situated a few miles east of the Village.
| | History | Borden was founded in 1905 and was originally named Baltimore. It was later renamed by the Canadian National Railroad (CNR) in honor of Sir Frederick Borden, Minister of Militia in Sir Wilfred Laurier's Cabinet. The railway reached Borden in 1906 and the village was incorporated three years later. The first council consisted of Thomas Graviston, William Tallis, and Norman Smith. Mr. Smith served on the council for 35 years.
| | Economic Information | Borden has a population of 225 and serves a large agricultural community. It was one of the few villages with a population increase in the 2001 census. The co-operative spirit enriches quality of life in the community and is exemplified in organizations including: the local Credit Union, Co-op Grocery-Farm Supply and Bulk Fuels, Co-op pasture, Co-op Feeder Association, Farmer's Market, and Grain Companies. The local restaurant and coffee shop specializes in homemade sausage and custom meat cutting.
The entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well in Borden's home-based business community and includes a barber, hairdresser, carpet and upholstery cleaner and a plumbing service. A Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI) Broker is located as a storefront for local insurance needs.
| | Attractions | Visitor attractions included Foster's General Store (opened in 1920), the weekly Farmer's Market, and the Borden Museum, which features a replica of the home of Rt. Hon. John G. Diefenbaker, Canada's 13th Prime Minister.
The hotel, service station, and restaurant extend operating hours to serve locals and to accommodate highway travelers. The well-used recreation facilities include a Community Centre with auditorium, fully equipped kitchen, meeting room, senior clubroom, bowling alley, and library. A 9-hole, sand green golf course is available to residents and visitors.
