Caronport

Geography

Caronport is located 15 minutes west of Moose Jaw on the Trans-Canada Highway (halfway between Winnipeg and Calgary). Caronport is the home of the extensively developed 160-acre campus of Briercrest College and Seminary, which is made up of Caronport High School, Briercrest College, Briercrest Seminary, and Briercrest Distance Learning. Caronport also has an elementary school and a chapel which seats 2,400.

Caronport has a variety of recreational opportunities including tennis courts, an ice rink, gymnasium, children's playgrounds, and full-size athletic fields. Three golf courses, indoor swimming pools, and beautiful parks are only 15 minutes away in Moose Jaw. Besant Regional Park and Campground is located 6 minutes west of Caronport on the Trans-Canada.

Attractions

As one of a handful of private boarding schools in Saskatchewan, Caronport High School (CHS) offers all the amenities found in Christian boarding schools, coupled with the stability of a day-school community set on a college campus. This connection with the college and seminary makes CHS one of the more unique Christian schools in Canada, offering big-school facilities to a relatively small school population (275 students in grades 9-12).

The seminary wing has an atmosphere that is conducive to study and prayer. The state-of-the-art classrooms are designed to create a comfortable and stimulating learning environment. Spacious and quiet, the expanded Archibald Library has an efficient layout and lockable, laptop-ready study carrels, making it ideal for research. Check the detailed list of the resources and services the library has to offer. The nearby 'Gourmet Bean' provides a casual setting to relax and unwind or discuss new ideas over a cup of coffee.

The new student centre, The Point, was formerly the site of the Pilgrim Restaurant. The Point has a Subway restaurant and a We Proudly Brew Starbucks Coffee coffee bar, as well as a convenience store and gas bar. All amenities at The Point are open to the public.

Caronport is also home to The Pilgrim Inn. This 42-room facility is located next to The Point and is just a three minute walk to the college and seminary. Located right next to the library/seminary building is the gymnasium. This large structure houses two full-size basketball or volleyball courts, a weight room, indoor climbing wall, gym equipment, change rooms and showers, which are all available for student use. Seminary students may join college students in the intramural sports program.

Caronport is also home to Youth Quake and the Caronport Christmas Musical productions. Youth Quake is a weekend event in February for high school students from all over Canada and the United States. The weekend is jam-packed with big bands, dynamic speakers, entertainers, and lots of fun activities. The Caronport Christmas Musical is a production that the students put on every year for the public. This event takes place in our Hildebrand Chapel. Over the course of the Musical weekend, over 9,000 people visit Caronport to enjoy our production and craft sale.
