History
Nestled away in the Southwestern part of Saskatchewan known as the Missouri Couteau, lies the small but quaint community of 175 people. The landscape in the Hodgeville area has been described as 'moderately rolling to hilly' and seems to stretch on forever.

The early twenties brought about the initial development of Hodgeville, Saskatchewan. Although the village had not yet acquired official status, the Rural Municipality of Lawtonia had, providing the backbone for the initiation of Hodgeville. The foundation for a thriving community had been built with development and improvement underway: a well was dug, roads and sidewalks built, and the railway was under construction.

Local residents did not have to travel far for banking or postal services. Hodgeville was the first to offer both, which led to the motion that made Hodgeville the centre of the municipality's business activities.

The Village of Hodgeville was incorporated in 1921. After celebrating its first Christmas season, the New Year presented the village with its first critical challenge: declining population. Due to declining crop production farmers and local residents were forced to leave the village in search of prosperity.

Following the construction of the grain elevator, Hodgeville witnessed noticeable business development and sense of community. Much excitement filled the air when the first train arrived in January 1920 with plans underway to build a permanent station house in the village.

The Village of Hodgeville demonstrated true community spirit when it came to its recreational life. Horse races, soccer, baseball, rodeos, and community dances provided the opportunity for the community to unite together. The Village of Hodgeville still remains true to its community.
