| Geography | With a population of over 160, the Village of Kincaid is a beautiful Saskatchewan prairie community located at the junction of Highway 13 and Highway 19, forty minutes west of Assiniboia and one hour and fifteen minutes southeast of Swift Current.
| | History | The area was originally called Highcroft after two Scottish families, who were known as Crofters in their homeland. The Village was incorporated in 1913 and was named after a railroad executive, William Kincaid.
| | Economic Information | Agriculture, in all its diversity, is the primary industry in and around the Village of Kincaid.
| | Attractions | The Village is conveniently located in the heart of Southwest Saskatchewan. Thompson Lake Regional Park, with its excellent camping, swimming, boating, and golfing facilities is located a mere 30 minutes away. The Village is also an hour drive away from both the west and east blocks of Grasslands National Park.
| | Other Info | The Village itself is an active community, which has experienced a revitalization of sorts in the past few years. Due to some serious water problems in the past, the Village now boasts a new water supply and treatment plant. There was a period of time when there was no grocery store, gas station, or financial institution in the Village. The community convinced a Credit Union to open a branch in the Village. As well the community itself now owns and operates the grocery store and a local entrepreneur has recently reopened the gas station/carwash. The Village also has two garages, a tire shop, and a grain elevator. A 10,000 head feedlot recently opened up in the area as well. There is still a local hotel and a hardware store as well as a hairdressing shop, insurance agent, a full service post office, the Rural Municipality (RM) office, and a new coffee shop. There is a 21 unit seniors' lodge and a health centre with a doctor and lab technician available 4 days a week. We have an active volunteer fire department as well as Home Care available for all who need it. Cable TV is also available. There are numerous trades' people in the area who keep everything in the community running.
The Kincaid Central School is located in the Village and has students from Kindergarten to Grade Twelve attending from four surrounding communities. Kincaid also supports a community sports centre, built in 1982, which has artificial ice for both curling and skating as well as excellent banquet facilities. A museum of local pioneer artifacts is located in the Old Kincaid Apostolic Church, built in 1928. We also have an active branch of Chinook Regional Library as well as the Glencaid United Church.
There are a number of organizations in the Village that include the Royal Canadian Legion - Pinto Creek Branch, the Kincaid Lions, the Glencaid U.C.W., the Kincaid & District Arts Council, the Kincaid Book Circle, Club 50, and the Kincaid & District Community Service Club. These organizations are responsible for hosting most of the many sporting, cultural, and entertainment activities that are held every year in our community.
