Tompkins is a small village halfway between Maple Creek and Gull Lake on the TransCanada Highway.
The village is located south of the Great Sand Hills and is the highest point on the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) between Calgary and Winnipeg.
History
Tompkins is a village with deep roots and history that conveys a story. Part of its history can be viewed at the Sod Hut, 1908 Home, and the CPR Station; all are evidence of life as the settlers knew it.
The Buffalo Bean Tea House, open year-round, offers visitors a touch of the past as well as a refreshment and dessert service.

Tompkins is an active community. Evidence of this can be seen through the various facilities like the ball diamonds, curling rink, skating rink and nine-hole golf course.
Tompkins also has a campground, named the Shady Place, for tired campers to relax.
