| Geography | The Village of Viscount is located in Central Saskatchewan, on the Yellowhead #16 highway, approximately 90 kilometres (kms) east of Saskatoon and 210 kms northwest of Regina. The population of Viscount is 251.
| | History | Viscount was first settled in 1906 and given Village status in 1908. Viscount is named after a man called Viscount Plunkett, who was a renowned Irish lawyer, judge, and administrator who was elected to have the Town named after him by his peers.
| | Economic Information | Viscount is located in the heart of Saskatchewan's agricultural industry. It is also in the middle of three potash mines. One in Lanigan to the east, one in Colonsay to the west, and one in Allan southwest of Viscount. These industries employ many of the residents of Viscount. Viscount's main industry is agriculture, the same as most rural communities in Saskatchewan. Farming is a way of life in these parts.
The main crops grown in the area are wheat, canola, barley, oats, flax, and mustard, plus specialty crops such as lentils and peas. There are a number of small livestock producers in the area. The livestock enterprises vary from those utilizing areas of pasture and marginal land to hog operations and feedlots. There are fertilizer plants, seed cleaning operations, the Viscount flourmill, and a chemical dealer.
