Lake of The Rivers No. 72

Geography

The Office of the Rural Municipality (RM) of Lake of the Rivers #72 is located in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan. The RM is located along Highways #2 and #13, with Highway #2 being the western boundary of the municipality. The RM consists of 8½ townships of 195,840 acres of land, and includes the town site of Willows.

History

The RM was incorporated in 1911. The name was taken from the lake that runs 12 miles down the middle of the municipality.

Economic Information

The major industry in the RM of Lake of the Rivers is agriculture. However, the agriculture industry is well mixed between both grain and livestock production. With the Town of Assiniboia being located in the municipality, most of the economic activity occurs in Assiniboia.

Attractions

All recreation and culture activities occur in the Town of Assiniboia. The Assiniboia Regional Park has its golf course in the RM, 2 miles from town.
