Geography

The Rural Municipality of Battle River is located south of the Battlefords. It is bordered to the north by the North Saskatchewan River, to the east by the RM of Glenside No. 377, to the south by the RM of Buffalo No. 409, and to the west by the RM of Cutknife No. 439 and the RM of Paynton No. 470. The RM of Battle River also includes the Hamlet of Delmas.

History
The RM of Battle River was incorporated on December 12, 1910. Recorded history reveals that the first fur trading post was established in the Battlefords in 1785, a telegraph line in 1874, a North West Mounted Police headquarters in 1876, the Capital of the North West Territories in 1877, and the first newspaper west of Winnipeg in 1878.

Economic Information
The RM covers a land area of 1061.09 square kilometers and has a population of 1065. The RM is mainly a farming community with many diversified small businesses throughout the municipality.

The RM of Battle River #438 is a member of the Battlefords Regional Economic Development Authority.

Attractions
Table Mountain Regional Park is located in the RM of Battle River. Approximately 60,000 skier visits per season are a testament to the outstanding facilities at Table Mountain, which is located about 26 kms north west of the Battlefords.
