Geography

The Rural Municipality (RM) of Paynton extends northwest to the RM of Eldon, northeast to the North Saskatchewan River, east to the RM of Battle River, and southwest to the RM of Cut Knife and Poundmaker First Nation. The Village of Paynton and Hamlet of Bresaylor are located within the RM.

History
The RM of Paynton was incorporated on January 1, 1913. The Arbor Hill and Battlebank School Districts are located within the RM.

Economic Information
Agriculture, including crop farming and cattle ranching, is the primary industry in the RM of Paynton. The presence of oil and gas in the area is continually growing. The RM has a population of 259.

Attractions
Paynton Place is the newest development in the RM. This newly opened business, located on Highway #16 west, offers a driving range, campsite, motel, and café.

An annual rodeo is held in the summer months and has become a tradition for local residents.

Bresaylor has a museum operated by the sole Hamlet resident. She also operates a small sheep farm in the area.

The Paynton Ferry is used as an access to the Northern Lakes for area residents. The North Saskatchewan River is considered to be an excellent fishing site. The Ferry is open spring through fall. Passengers boarding the Ferry at Paynton are then dropped off on the #674 grid road near Edam.
