Other Info
Old Wives Lake is part of the Western Hemispheric Shorebird Reserve, along with Chaplin and Reed Lakes. This lake has been the subject of legend for close to 100 years.
The Wood River winds its crooked path from the southwest corner of the municipality to Old Wives Lake. Many creeks feed the river along the way, so when there are floods in certain parts of southwest Saskatchewan, that water makes its way to Wood River, and eventually Old Wives Lake (i.e. the Vanguard Flood). There are three relatively long bridges within the RM.
This is an area rich in wild life, so it is a popular destination for local and visiting (some foreign) hunters and fisherman every year. There is a bed and breakfast located in Coderre, along with a Hotel, which offers delicious meals.
There are no industries located within the municipality. The land is evenly divided between rolling pastures and rich farmland. The farmers and ranchers of the area are noted for their productivity and innovation.
