Martensville is located eight kilometres north of Saskatoon and is easily accessed by a new double-lane highway. The north industrial area of Saskatoon is only ten minutes away for commuters.
History
Martensville has a very young history. In 1939, Isaac Martens and his son Dave, purchased land twelve kilometers north of Saskatoon. Out of his purchase, Dave Martens sold three small parcels of land to people who wanted to move out of Saskatoon and as a result the community of Martensville was created.
A school was established in 1953 on land donated by Jake Gerbrandt. Martensville grew slowly at first, but was incorporated as a village in 1966 and as a town in 1968. Sewer and water was established in 1976 with the town experiencing accelerated growth.
The population as of June 2001 was 4688.
