| | History | As two men stood awestruck, standing on the edge of a colossal valley expanse staring down at the fierce river rushing below them, time stopped for a moment. Silence stirred over the wildly, raging South Saskatchewan, broken by one man who emblazoned the words which would forever mark the beautiful sight the two CPR officials beheld. The silence of that single moment, 'What a wonderful outlook!' still ring true for the scenic riverside Outlook is now built upon.
The dream of such a riverside town was realized on August 26, 1908 when the auction of lots commenced. Investors were curious from the onset, as Outlook became a gateway to the west equipped with a huge railway station centered in one of the most beautiful spots on the prairies.
On November 23, 1908 the citizens of Outlook welcomed the first train. Within the month the CPR had provided tri-weekly train service carrying huge piles of lumber. November 1, 1909 Outlook would be officially declared a town.
| | Economic Information | With the largest irrigation project in the province, Outlook has diversified its strong, traditional agriculture base to become 'Saskatchewan's Garden'. Specialty crops such as sunflowers, corn, potatoes and vegetables are of very high quality, making Outlook a good location choice for food processing companies and related support industries. Water, energy and land are plentiful. Outlook is serviced by truck, transport, and courier services with primary weights on Highway 15 year round.
Outlook is not only an agriculture-based community but is a growing technology center. High Speed Internet is available throughout the town. The core of our high tech development is a web-based business with a North American focus. With Outlook's close proximity to Saskatoon, it has excellent potential for telecommuting.
Outlook has a very active Chamber of Commerce made up of local businesses, the town, economic development and tourism committees. The economic development offices of Mid Sask Regional Economic Development Authority/Community Futures Development Corporation located in Outlook provide assistance to entrepreneurs; whether it is financing, business plan assistance or community projects.
Combined with lower living expenses and small town lifestyle, Outlook is a great place to raise a family and do business.
