Young is located to the west of Little Manitou Lake on Hwy #2, 22 km south of the Yellowhead hwy #16. Young is located in the RM of Morris #312. The population of Young in the 2006 census was 263.
History
The village of Young was incorporated in 1910. The village was named for F.G. Young, land agent.
Economic Information
Agriculture is vital to the economy of nearly every community in Saskatchewan. Young serves a diverse agricultural base.
A diverse range of crops are grown including red spring wheat, barley, flax, canola, mustard, oats, lentils and peas.
There are a number of livestock producers in the area. The livestock enterprises vary from those utilizing areas of pasture and marginal land to intensive dairy and hog operations. Forage production is an option that a number of farmers have investigated.
The Mosiac Potash mine is located north of Young and employs a large number of the residents. In total the mine employs 400 people. There is also another potash mine north of Allan operated by PCS.
Attractions
There are numerous activities available to do in Young and area. In the winter Young operates a skating rink and an artificial ice curling rink. In the summer residents enjoy the use of the outdoor swimming pool, the healing waters of Little Manitou Lake and the fishing provided at Zelma Resevoir. In addition to the seasonal activities Young boasts a great dance school and an excellent dinner theatre production group.
McClellan School offers grade K-12 education.

Health & Safety: The closest hospital is the Watrous Hospital located 22km to the east on Hwy #2. It was constructed in 1988 and has four acute care beds and ten long care beds. The Watrous Hospital also manages the Manitou Lodge, which has thiry-four long care beds, one respite bed and twenty suites.
One medical clinic with two doctors, and one dental clinic with two dentists is located in Town of Watrous.
Saskatoon Health Region offers Home Care services in Young providing home support and nursing services to assist residents of Young and area to maintain independent living and to remain in their own homes.
The Village of Young is serviced by the Watrous Ambulance. The service has a well-trained staff and includes two ambulance vehicles.
